A day in the life of a Female Gamer

FemaleGamerGC

This image was actually going to be a ‘Fun pic of the Day’ post but then I got to thinking about the image itself and the message behind it. I decided to write about my own experiences as a female gamer and this is what I ended up with:

It’s a shame to admit that I’ve experienced days like this when gaming. You know, days when you just mind your own business and want to have fun and some nub who has never heard a female voice online before just has to start with the smart, degrading attitude and comments. I’d like to say that I’m tough-skinned enough to not worry about it and for all the years that I’ve been gaming, I think I’ve come a long way considering how much I used to hate using a mic. But there are days when I will simply avoid using my mic online because I just can’t be bothered with the crap.

I’ve had people say all of the things pictured in the image to me. I had to omit some of the things because they weren’t very ‘PG’. You can read the article in its entirety over at Game Culture dot com.

Peace.
