Freedom of speech, freedom to game!

Although this isn’t a pertinent issue for gamers in Australasia, everyone knows (or should) that when politics and games collide, it usually ends up badly – especially for gamers. This time around it’s not Aussie gamers that need to stand up and be heard but US gamers. The ECA are ready and willing to put the voice of American gamers forward for this extremely important policy issue which will affect gamers in the USA.

Here’s an excerpt from the original post over at Game Culture dot com:

This year, or early next, the court is going to listen to oral arguments on whether to agree with those other lower court findings, or not. Agreeing would mean that they believe that video games are, and should continue to be, First Amendment protected speech, just like movies and music. The court disagreeing would mean that they believe that games should be treated differently – more like alcohol, tobacco or firearms.

So if you’re a US gamer, you should definitely check it out and if you feel strongly enough, sign up and be counted!
