Armageddon 2011 was held at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds this year and maxed to capacity, catering to 42,000 game-loving, cosplaying pop culture fans over a four day period (Friday 28th – Monday 31st of October).
Resident game-loving Sami Shanley from AvT and crew were onsite at Armageddon 2011 this year to take in the sights and report on gamer-related happenings and events. But unfortunately, due to technical issues, we were unable to gather any video content from Army this year. However, thanks to our main man Chen, we have some great pics of Army for everyone to check out.
Various game publishers were onboard showing off their wares which included a great Sony booth with a Tekken Hybrid playable demo for punters, Call of Duty Black Ops and a Tekken tourney for gamers who felt competitive enough to jump into the fray.
There was also a ministage setup showing off the new Black Eyed Peas Experience game, a massive Sackboy walking around the Sony PlayStation area, playable demos of Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Mass Effect 3, Need for Speed The Run, as well as PCs setup to play 8v8 games of Battlefield 3.
This year’s Army was definitely a better experience for gamers all-round compared to previous years with a lot more on display for gamers to participate in. Let’s hope that this only improves in the future. AvT and Game Culture have some things planned for next year which should definitely work towards delivering our New Zealand gaming community something well worth participating in.
We’ll be updating our websites with more news on these events later this year and early next year.
Thanks to Sami and AvT and to Chen for use of his great images.
