I loved the EA BIG games like especially SSX and SSX Tricky. bring back EA Big when the focus was more on fun than on realism.

If this is anything like NBA Street series (the older ones in particular) then I’m all over it. When I called them to see whether they could do it, did mention reballing. They also repair a large range of new high end phones and tablets and are Auckland wide. So it is possible that they do have the means.Regardless of all that, I now have my backup.Spud of doom this isn't a case of Xbox 360 being better than PS3. This is just about one of the pitfalls of a PS3. Your comment regarding swapping out a 360 HDD isn't entirely accurate though. Sure between the same models yes it is dead simple. But it I was to take my HDD from my launch console to a mates house who has a slim I can't. I also can't create a back up of my data incase of HDD failure, I can transfer the contents, (via a required cable). But if my HDD dies, everything goes with it.

The camera analogy is spot on Fahrenheit.

I’m going to give the repairer the benefit of doubt. I liken this to having your camera stolen. You'd be happy for the theives to keep it if there was the off-chance that they'd return the memory card with all the precious photos on it...If they did reball it properly, then it has a very good chance of giving you another 5 years of service.
The cheats way is to simply reflow the existing solder (sometimes with a nasty heatgun). This almost always ends in re-failure because the solder is weakened after being reflowed. Fairly hard to verify this unfortunately. The BGA rework stations required to do this type of work cost some serious coin, so if you suspect that the person that did the work wouldn't have invested tens of thousands of $, you can pretty much guess what they did...At least now you can migrate your data and thats the most important thing.

Glad to hear you got your data back Aaron.<br
